Embedded Developers all around the world – Joseph Ogbonna, Nigeria

28/04/2023 Blog, Embedded Systems

We are happy to have the possibility to talk to engineers all around the world and hear their stories what they do and how they bacame interested in electronics! First out is Joseph Ogbonna from Nigeria!

When/How did You discover Your interest in electronics and embedded systems? How did that interest develop over the years?

I discovered my interest in electronics and embedded systems during my high school years. I was always intrigued by how electronic devices functioned and wanted to understand the underlying principles. This curiosity led me to explore electronics as a hobby, where I started experimenting with basic circuits and microcontrollers. As I delved deeper into the subject, I realized the immense potential of embedded systems in various applications, from robotics to consumer electronics. This interest has continued to grow as I pursue my education, and I am eager to further develop my knowledge and skills in this field.

You have studied at the Offshore Technology Institute – University of Port Harcourt and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering. Which classes/projects did You like most and had the most impact on Your current knowledge?

As a student at the Offshore Technology Institute – University of Port Harcourt, I have been exposed to a range of classes and projects that have contributed to my current knowledge. Among these, classes and projects in microcontrollers, digital signal processing, and embedded systems have had a significant impact. These courses have provided me with a solid foundation in understanding the core principles and techniques involved in designing and programming embedded systems. Additionally, I have been actively pursuing online courses related to electronics, embedded systems, and PCB design to further enhance my skills and knowledge in these areas.

Could You tell us a little bit more about the commercial projects/technologies You have taken part in so far?

While I am still a student, I have had the opportunity to work on smaller-scale projects that have allowed me to apply my knowledge and gain practical experience in the field of embedded systems. For instance, I have worked on developing simple IoT prototypes using microcontrollers and sensors, where I learned about hardware design, firmware development, and data communication. These projects have given me valuable insights into the commercial applications of embedded systems and have sparked my enthusiasm for pursuing further projects and technologies in the future.

What do You do today, what kind of services could You offer and which technologies would You like to work on in the future?

As a student, I am currently focused on expanding my knowledge and skills in electronics and embedded systems. I am eager to take on more challenging projects and gain hands-on experience in areas such as PCB design, microcontroller programming, and firmware development. In the future, I would like to work on projects that involve emerging technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) and its applications in various industries. I am excited to continue learning and growing in this field as I progress in my academic and professional journey.

Thank You very much Joseph for the dedicated time for this interview!

Thank you for considering me for this interview. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute my skills and passion for embedded systems in the future.
